Slot Floor: What Is Actually On Site
We run 407 gaming machines on the Casino Nanaimo floor, spread across roughly 15,000 square feet of space. Most third-party directories call it “400+ video slots”, which matches what players see when they walk in. The bulk of the floor is multi-line video slots, with a mix of progressive-linked units and a smaller group of old-school reel-style terminals. Denominations shift across the floor, which is standard for a BC property of this size.
There is no separate Great Canadian Casino Nanaimo-branded online slot site. That is not a missing feature or a product gap, it is simply how the British Columbia market is structured. All legal real-money online casino play in the province is operated through PlayNow.com under the BC Lottery Corporation. So when someone searches for Great Canadian Casino Nanaimo slots online, they will not hit a dedicated Nanaimo web casino from us. They see directory listings, affiliate writeups, or they end up at the PlayNow platform itself.

The physical slot floor is our direct product in Nanaimo. Online slot play for local players runs through that separate provincial site, with no shared login or tech bridge between the two environments.
Table Games, Poker, and the Racebook
On the main floor we operate six table games. Confirmed offerings are blackjack, baccarat, and roulette. It is not a huge list, but for a 15,000 sq ft Vancouver Island casino, that mix tends to cover the usual demand fairly well.
Our poker room focuses on no-limit Texas Hold’em, set up for both cash games and programmed tournament schedules. Poker does not mirror the slot floor in terms of hours, and runs more limited times, as follows:
- Wednesday and Thursday: 4:00 p.m. to midnight
- Friday and Saturday: 1:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
Table games in general do not usually stay open as late as the slots. For anyone planning a visit around blackjack, baccarat, roulette or a poker session, a quick phone call before heading over is sensible. Multiple directory sites show slightly different time windows, which typically signals that hours were adjusted at some point and not every listing was updated at the same time.
We also host an off-track racebook on property. That means horse race wagering is available on-site, making Casino Nanaimo one of the few Vancouver Island venues that put slot machines, live-dealer tables, poker, and race betting together under one roof. There is a single restaurant in the building as well, so players do not have to leave the property to get a sit-down meal.
Hours and Getting There
The casino address is 620 Terminal Avenue, Nanaimo, BC V9R 5E2. Terminal Avenue forms part of Highway 19A, a key connector through the city, so the site is straightforward to reach by car from most neighbourhoods in Nanaimo and nearby communities.
Most directory listings show the following general hours:
| Day | Hours |
|---|---|
| Sunday - Thursday | 10:00 a.m. - midnight to 1:00 a.m. |
| Friday - Saturday | 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. |
| Poker (Wed/Thu) | 4:00 p.m. - midnight |
| Poker (Fri/Sat) | 1:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m. |
The variation you see on closing times - midnight vs 1:00 a.m. vs 2:00 a.m. - usually reflects changes over time or different shutdown windows for table games compared to the slot floor. The most reliable move is simple: call us at (250) 753-3033 before you head over. It removes the guessing and keeps your visit aligned with live schedules.
Online Slots in BC: How the Provincial System Works
In British Columbia, individual land-based casinos like ours are not allowed to launch and operate their own real-money online casinos. Instead, the province centralizes everything on one official website, PlayNow.com. That platform is the only provincially licensed online casino for BC residents, and it is where players in Nanaimo - and everywhere else in BC - access legal online slots.
The flow to get started is direct:
- Go to PlayNow.com in your browser.
- Open an account or log in using details that confirm BC residency.
- Move into the Casino or Slots section of the site.
- Filter by title style, game provider, or preferred stake size.
- Choose a slot, set your bet amount.
- Deposit funds using Interac, credit card, or another accepted CAD method.
- Play within the time and spend limits the platform allows for your account.
Creating an online profile with PlayNow does not require any registration at Casino Nanaimo itself. Our land-based venue and the provincial online casino are run as two separate channels, with no crossover of balances, accounts or loyalty wallets. Players familiar with markets where land-based and online brands run under a shared identity will notice this is a different model.
One practical detail is worth calling out again: if someone is new to online casino platforms, it usually helps to put deposit limits in place before the first real-money session. Provincial platforms tend to make it simpler to set those limits at the start than to dial them back during an active playing period.
